Jewar: Noida, the state’s economic hub, will be directly connected to Mumbai, India’s financial capital, starting June 15. Indigo Airlines will operate the inaugural flight from Noida International Airport, with ticket bookings expected to open on May 7.

In a special gesture, a second flight on the same day will carry farmers-whose land was acquired for the airport’s first phase-to Lucknow for a felicitation ceremony, followed by a visit to Ayodhya for darshan of Lord Ram. Alongside Indigo, Akasa Air and Air India Express are also preparing to launch flights from Noida Airport.

Why Mumbai First?

Noida has emerged as a major economic center, with substantial daily travel between Mumbai and the NCR for business and corporate work. Direct air connectivity to Mumbai is expected to facilitate smoother travel for professionals and traders.

Honoring the Farmers

The inaugural Lucknow-Ayodhya flight is designed to recognize the farmers’ contribution to the airport project. They will first be felicitated in Lucknow before proceeding to Ayodhya. This plan received approval from Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath after Jewar MLA Dhirendra Singh proposed it.

Airlines Prepare for Launch

The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security approved Indigo’s Airport Security Programme on April 28, clearing the way for operations from June 15. Airport authorities and airlines are finalizing schedules, fares, and routes, aiming to enhance connectivity and support Noida’s growing economic and business activities.
