Ram Mandir donation theft shakes Janakpur too in Nepal
Ayodhya/Janakpur: The Ram Temple donation theft case has now sparked concern beyond Indian borders to birthplace of Goddess Sita, Janakpur in Nepal.
Mahant Roshan Das of the Shri Janaki Temple expressed deep sorrow and disappointment over the case, describing it as unfortunate event. He also demanded strict action against those responsible.
However, preparations are underway to send a special delegation of devotees from Janakpur to Ayodhya.
Mahant Roshan Das said the news of the alleged donation theft at the Ram mandir has caused immense grief and anger among devotees in Janakpur.
According to Mahant, such an incident had never before been seen or heard of at any temple dedicated to Lord Ram. He stressed that the accused must face stringent legal action to ensure such incidents are never repeated.
Mahant Roshan Das recalled that during the consecration ceremony (Pran Pratishtha) of Ram Lalla in January 2024, Janakpur had sent specially prepared gifts to Ayodhya. Around 500 devotees travelled to Ayodhya in a convoy of seven buses and 40 SUVs to participate in the historic event.
The gifts from Janakpur, where from maternal home of Goddess Sita, included gold and silver ornaments, traditional bridal items, ceremonial clothing, silver utensils, a bow and arrows, betel leaves and areca nuts, and several other religious offerings. These gifts hold significant religious and cultural importance.
Mahant Roshan Das said a seven-member delegation from Janakpur will soon visit Ayodhya. The delegation will offer prayers at the Ram Temple, assess the situation on the ground, and meet saints as well as office-bearers of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust.
