Agra: A heart-wrenching incident occurred on Sunday on the Uttar Pradesh-Rajasthan border, where two people, including a woman, died and five were seriously injured when the soil caved in on a pit being dug for a pipeline under the Chambal project, reports Dynamite News correspondent.

The scene was chaotic after the accident and people were rescued and taken out after the villagers made noise.

This accident happened in Panchayat Uttu of Daudpur village in Agra district of Uttar Pradesh, adjacent to the Rajasthan border.

According to the information, about 10 feet deep pits were being dug for the Chambal project in the Rajasthan border, and some villagers had reached there to extract yellow soil from one of the pits. Then suddenly the soil started sliding from above and eight people got trapped and buried under it.

People Buried In Soil

When the villagers were busy extracting soil, the soil deposited on the slope suddenly slipped and within no time all the people were buried under it. When other villagers present there at the time of the accident raised an alarm, people from nearby areas rushed to the spot. People tried to remove the buried people by removing the soil, and after a lot of effort, all eight people were taken out.

Two Died In Hospital

The injured were immediately taken to Bharatpur Hospital, where doctors declared two people, including a woman, dead. The treatment of the remaining five injured is going on, some of whom are said to be in critical condition. The identification of the dead is still going on, but a wave of mourning has spread in the village.

Village Head And Police Reached On Spot

The village head confirmed the accident and said that this incident is extremely painful and the administration should have already made security arrangements during such excavation. As soon as the information was received, Rajasthan Police and the police of Fatehpur Sikri police station area of ​​​​Uttar Pradesh reached the spot and took information about the incident. Relief and rescue work has been started by the administration.

This accident has once again raised questions on administrative negligence. Villagers say that during the excavation of the project, neither a safety fence was installed, nor any kind of warning boards were put up. This accident is being said to be the result of ignoring safety standards.

Villagers Got Angry

After the accident, there is an atmosphere of anger and mourning in the entire village. The family members are in a bad state due to crying. The villagers have demanded from the administration that compensation be given to the families of the deceased and action should be taken against the officials responsible for such negligence.
