Lucknow: In a key decision aimed at strengthening the education sector, the cabinet led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has approved a substantial hike in the honorarium for Shiksha Mitras and part-time instructors.

Under the revised structure, Shiksha Mitras will now receive Rs 18,000 per month, up from Rs 10,000, while part-time instructors will see their pay rise from Rs 9,000 to Rs 17,000. The new rates will come into effect from May 1.

Basic Education Minister Sandeep Singh stated that the decision reflects the government’s continued focus on improving the welfare of education workers and boosting morale across the sector.

Relief for Thousands of Education Workers

The move is expected to directly benefit more than 27,000 part-time instructors across the state. For many working in rural and remote areas, the increase brings long-awaited financial relief.

Officials believe the decision will not only improve livelihoods but also positively impact the quality of education by motivating teaching staff.

Push for Digital Learning: 2.5 Million Tablets Approved

The cabinet also approved the procurement of 2.5 million tablets for students as part of its ongoing digital education push.

Finance Minister Suresh Khanna noted that around 6 million smartphones and tablets have already been distributed under previous phases of the program. The new procurement aims to further bridge the digital divide and enhance access to learning resources.

New Medical College Planned in Ballia

In a significant step toward improving healthcare infrastructure, the cabinet has approved the establishment of a medical college in Ballia under the ‘One District, One Medical College’ scheme.

The proposed college will be built on land owned by the Prisons Department, with the district hospital integrated into the facility. The initiative is expected to expand local healthcare services and create new employment opportunities.

Focus on Development Across Sectors

A total of 22 proposals were cleared during the cabinet meeting, reflecting a broad focus on education, digital access, and healthcare expansion. The government aims to drive balanced development while improving public service delivery across the state.
