Agra: A heart-wrenching incident occurred on Sunday on the Uttar Pradesh-Rajasthan border, where two people, including a woman, died and five were seriously injured when the soil caved in on a pit being dug for a pipeline under the Chambal project.
The scene was chaotic after the accident and people were rescued and taken out after the villagers made noise. This accident happened in Panchayat Uttu of Daudpur village in Agra district of Uttar Pradesh, adjacent to the Rajasthan border.
According to the information, about 10 feet deep pits were being dug for the Chambal project in the Rajasthan border, and some villagers had reached there to extract yellow soil from one of the pits. Then suddenly the soil started sliding from above and eight people got trapped and buried under it.
When the villagers were busy extracting soil, the soil deposited on the slope suddenly slipped and within no time all the people were buried under it.
