Jharkhand: 7 killed as speeding truck rams vehicle returning from Muharram event

Ramgarh: A devastating road accident in Jharkhand’s Ramgarh district on Friday claimed the lives of seven people and left one person critically injured after a speeding truck collided head-on with a passenger vehicle on the Ramgarh-Bokaro highway.

The victims were reportedly returning home after attending Muharram observances when the tragedy occurred. According to initial reports, a truck coming from the opposite direction rammed into their vehicle at high speed. The impact was so severe that the passenger vehicle was badly mangled, killing seven occupants on the spot.

Soon after the accident, locals informed the police, following which rescue teams reached the spot. The injured person was rushed to a nearby hospital, where their condition is said to be critical. The bodies of the deceased have been sent for post-mortem examination.

The accident caused panic and grief in the area, with several families plunged into mourning within moments. Police officials said preliminary investigation suggests over speeding may have played a key role in the collision.

The truck driver fled the spot after the crash. Police have registered a case and launched a search operation to trace him. Investigators are also examining CCTV footage from nearby areas and collecting evidence to determine the exact sequence of events.
