New Delhi: The devastating fire in South Delhi's Malviya Nagar has left an entire family shattered, with eight relatives losing their lives in the tragedy. The victims had arrived in Delhi to visit an elderly family member undergoing treatment at a hospital and had checked into a guest house just a day before the deadly incident.

According to family members, the group had booked two rooms at the accommodation on Tuesday evening, unaware that their visit would end in unimaginable loss.

Eight Family Members Among Victims

Those who lost their lives include Vivek, his wife, their two daughters, his mother, and three close relatives. Preliminary reports suggest that all of them died due to suffocation caused by dense smoke that rapidly spread through the building during the fire.

The incident has emerged as one of the most heartbreaking aspects of the Malviya Nagar blaze, which has claimed multiple lives and left several others injured.

Final Call for Help

Relatives revealed that during the emergency, Vivek managed to contact a cousin and pleaded for help. He reportedly informed family members that they were trapped in the basement and urgently needed assistance.

However, by the time relatives rushed to the scene from another part of the city, the fire and thick smoke had already engulfed the building, making rescue efforts extremely difficult.

Family Had Gathered for Hospital Visit

According to Vivek's father-in-law, Prem Bansal, the family had travelled to Delhi to visit Vivek's father, who had been admitted to a hospital for treatment over the past two days.

Concerned about his health, family members from different cities gathered in the capital. Vivek's elder daughter, who lived in Bengaluru, had also arrived after being informed about her grandfather's condition.

Investigation Continues

Authorities believe suffocation was the primary cause of death in the case. Rescue and relief operations continued throughout the day as officials worked to assist survivors and secure the site.

Meanwhile, investigators are examining the circumstances that led to the fire and whether any safety violations contributed to the scale of the tragedy.

The incident has left relatives, friends and local residents in deep shock as the city mourns one of its most heartbreaking fire disasters in recent years.
