With Uttar Pradesh panchayat elections approaching, state minister Raghuraj Singh has called the polls crucial for BJP, predicting a massive victory. He termed the elections a “semifinal” ahead of assembly polls.

New Delhi: The buzz surrounding the Panchayat elections has intensified in Uttar Pradesh. Meanwhile, state government minister Thakur Raghuraj Singh has made a significant claim, calling the Panchayat elections extremely important. He stated that the Panchayat elections are grassroots elections for the BJP and will have a direct impact on the upcoming Assembly elections. The minister claimed that the party will win 80 percent of the seats and described it as the semi-finals of the Assembly elections.
During the interview with Dynamite News, Raghuraj Singh said that the BJP is always in election mode and its organization is strong down to the booth level. He also said that after the Panchayat elections, workers and the organization are prepared for the next major elections.
During this conversation, he also made controversial statements regarding Aligarh Muslim University (AMU). Raghuraj Singh said that the reservation system under the Constitution should be implemented in AMU and Jamia Millia Islamia because these institutions are run with government funds. He claimed that participation of other communities is limited in these universities.
The minister reiterated his demand for a name change for AMU, saying the university's name should be associated with a national or Indian identity. He added that the purpose of education is the nation's progress and that all communities should have equal opportunities. Raghuraj Singh stated that he has already appealed to the Prime Minister and the President on this issue and will continue his struggle.
