New Delhi: A girl arrested on charges of making inappropriate statements about Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a protest rally at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi, is said to have issued a video apology that has gone viral on social networking sites.
According to the girl, she deeply regrets making such comments because she was influenced by some people during the protest. She termed it as her first and last mistake.
According to the FIR that was lodged regarding this case, the age of the accused is 25 years. Yet in her apology video, it was claimed that she was "just 15 years old". The authenticity of the video has not been confirmed from any other source.
Initially, this complaint was registered in a police station in Noida owing to the remark she made during a demonstration on July 23. Zero FIR was registered and later this case was transferred to Parliament Street Police Station.
The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, while speaking about the ongoing issue, stated that he felt hurt by the harsh language that has been used against him and his deceased mother. Nevertheless, he urged people to forgive the youth, which might have been misguided, and strive to bring them back to the right path.
He said that the use of abusive language will not solve anything and stressed upon the necessity of dignity in communication.
The Congress Party criticised the Prime Minister’s reaction saying that the people had expected an apology from the Prime Minister regarding certain issues but that he had talked about forgiving the people.
The controversy is still generating political reactions with the investigation going on.
