Bengaluru: A Canadian vlogger living in Bengaluru has claimed that parts of the damaged footpaths in the city’s Indiranagar area were repaired after his video highlighting poor pedestrian infrastructure gained attention online.
Caleb Friesen, who has previously shared videos about Bengaluru’s infrastructure, recently posted footage from 12th Main in Indiranagar showing damaged stretches of pavement.
The video appeared to show cracked footpaths, piles of rubble, large holes and sections that were difficult for pedestrians to navigate.
Describing the condition as “pathetic”, Friesen questioned how a city known as one of India’s major technology hubs could have such poor pedestrian infrastructure.
He also pointed to Bengaluru’s reputation as a major technology and startup hub, noting that Indiranagar is known for its businesses, startups and venture capital activity.
The footpaths of 12th Main, Indiranagar are a mess.

The footage showed broken sections of pavement, debris scattered across the walkway and a large hole containing rubbish.
Friesen also questioned why the debris had allegedly remained unattended and suggested that similar pedestrian infrastructure problems could be seen in other parts of Bengaluru.
The video drew attention on social media, with users discussing the city’s footpaths and pedestrian facilities. Some commenters also noted that damaged pavements and difficult walking conditions are not limited to Bengaluru and can be seen in several other Indian cities.
In a follow-up post, Friesen said that some of the locations featured in his earlier video had subsequently been repaired.
His latest post specifically referred to the locations shown in the original footage. The episode has once again brought attention to the condition of Bengaluru’s footpaths and the challenges faced by pedestrians in the city.
While the reported repairs have generated discussion online, it remains unclear from the posts alone who carried out the work and the full extent of the repairs.
The incident has added to the ongoing public conversation around pedestrian infrastructure, road maintenance and civic amenities in Bengaluru.
