Kakinada: In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, Andhra Pradesh police apprehended four individuals, including a minor, and seized over 110 kilograms of ganja during an operation carried out earlier today, reports Dynamite News correspondent.
Acting on a tip-off, Kakinada police intercepted a car near the MPDO’s office in Gandepalli along the national highway. Upon conducting a search, officers discovered 110.640 kg of ganja concealed in 50 packets.
The seized items included the vehicle used for smuggling, four smartphones, and ₹3,500 in cash. Authorities estimate the street value of the ganja at approximately ₹5.53 lakh, while the combined worth of the contraband, vehicle, and phones totals around ₹8.30 lakh.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Kallapalli Nagendra (43) of Gondavolu village in Nellore district; Shaik Sadik Wali (57) and Pandillapalli Sivakumar (42), both residents of Chitvel in Kadapa district; and a 17-year-old juvenile from Gondavolu village under Ravuru Mandal, Nellore district.

Police revealed that Nagendra is a known offender, previously wanted in two red sanders smuggling cases under Thottambedu police station in Tirupati urban district and Pullampeta police station in Kadapa district. He is also implicated in several ganja-related cases registered at Kavali Excise Station in Nellore and Obulapalli police station in Annamayya district.
Shaik Sadik Wali has a prior record as well, having been involved in a ganja case registered at Dhoolpet police station in Telangana.
Investigations indicate that the group was transporting ganja from Sileru to Tamil Nadu, in coordination with an associate based in Sileru. The arrests were made following a brief but intense chase.
Gandepalli police have filed a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and further investigation is underway.
Earlier this month on 2 June in Agra, the police team of Sikandra police station of the district, SOG Surveillance Nagar Zone has jointly taken a major action, in which an interstate gang involved in smuggling of illegal drugs that is ganja has been busted, the police has arrested three accused from Hiralal's Pyaau. A large quantity of illegal drugs i.e. ganja has been recovered from their possession, which is worth about Rs 3 crore in the international market.
They used to buy ganja at low prices and used to sell it at different places including Agra in order to earn money, the police has seized a large consignment of ganja. This action has been taken under the leadership of Additional DCP Aditya Kumar and ACP Hari Parvat Vinayak Bhosale.
