New Delhi: BMW has unveiled a new enthusiast-focused version of the M3 CS, introducing a limited-run model called the M3 CS Handschalter. The latest version marks the return of a manual gearbox and rear-wheel-drive setup, a combination long appreciated by driving purists.

Currently available only in the United States and Canada, the model has been designed for buyers looking for a more engaging and traditional performance experience.

Twin-Turbo Engine Paired With Six-Speed Manual

Under the hood, the M3 CS Handschalter continues with BMW’s 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged inline-six S58 engine. The unit produces 473 horsepower and 550 Nm of torque, paired with a six-speed manual transmission.

BMW claims the car can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 4.1 seconds and reach a top speed of 290 kmph. Compared to the all-wheel-drive automatic M3 CS, the manual variant delivers lower power figures but focuses more on driver involvement and balance.

According to BMW, manual variants are intentionally tuned for lower output to improve long-term durability and reliability.

Chassis and Suspension Tuned for Sharper Handling

BMW’s M division has made several mechanical upgrades to distinguish the Handschalter from the standard M3. The sedan sits 6 mm lower and receives revised springs, updated rear axle links and adaptive dampers borrowed from the high-performance M4 CSL.

The steering and electronic systems have also been recalibrated specifically for the manual setup to offer improved feedback and sharper cornering capability.

Carbon-Fibre Styling and Track-Focused Cabin

The exterior design features multiple carbon-fibre elements, including the roof, bonnet, splitter, mirror caps and rear diffuser. Yellow-tinted LED daytime running lights and red accents around the kidney grille further set the model apart.
