Mahindra is set to launch ‘Thar Sports,’ will it be a newer version of Bolero?

Mahindra is launching ‘Thar Sports,’ a new SUV under the Thar brand. Built on a monocoque platform, it offers better on-road stability and fuel efficiency. With a boxy, muscular design (inspired by Land Rover Defender), it will sit between XUV 3XO and Scorpio N. Expected features include ADAS, panoramic sunroof, and turbo petrol/diesel engines. New Delhi: Mahindra is going to launch a new SUV soon, which can be named Thar Sports. This car will not be a new version of Bolero, but a new model of the Thar brand. Thar already has a good identity in India, and Mahindra is going to launch a new SUV in the market by taking this popularity forward.

New platform and design

The Thar Sports will be built on a monocoque platform, while the current Thar and Bolero are based on a ladder frame chassis. The advantage of the monocoque platform is that this car will be more stable, smooth, and fuel efficient on the road. However, this model will be better for city and highway driving rather than off-roading.

Talking about the design, it will have a boxy shape, straight lines, and a muscular look, which will make it like a mini Land Rover Defender. Its size will be compact, but it will look stylish and strong.

Segment and positioning

The Thar Sports will be positioned above the XUV 3XO but below the Scorpio N and the current Thar. It will be less than 4 meters, allowing it to get tax benefits. It will be an attractive option for family users.

Engine and features

It can get turbo petrol and diesel engines like the XUV 3XO, as well as a larger turbo petrol engine. Talking about the features, it will get high-end features like a panoramic sunroof, ADAS, a 360-degree camera, a modern infotainment system, and connected car technology.

Launch and price

It can be unveiled around August 15, and the launch can be done in the festive season. An attempt will be made to keep the price affordable so that it can reach more and more customers. This SUV will be a stylish and feature-packed option for urban drivers, further strengthening the Thar brand.
