New Delhi: August 2025 was not good for Mahindra's popular SUV Scorpio. Scorpio-N and Scorpio Classic, which are always included in the list of top-10 bestselling cars, were out of that list this time.

29% drop in sales

A total of 9840 units of Scorpio were sold in August 2025. Whereas in August 2024 this number was 13,787 units. That is, a 29% decline has been recorded.

Why did Scorpio get out of the top-10 list?

Maruti Suzuki captured the top 10 list in August. There were 8 cars of Maruti in this list. The remaining two spots were taken by Hyundai Creta and Tata Nexon. The rising sales of Maruti Eco also pushed Scorpio out of the list.

Previous months' sales status

Month Sales (Units)
March 2025 13,913
April 2025 15,534
May 2025 14,401
June 2025 12,740
July 2025 13,747
August 2025 9,840

As seen, sales were stable for the last few months. But there was a sudden decline in August, which could be a matter of concern just before the festive season.

This drop in Scorpio sales is a worrying sign for Mahindra, especially when the festive season is near and companies expect higher sales. Being out of the top 10 list shows that competition has become very fierce, especially from companies like Maruti, Hyundai, and Tata.

Mahindra may have to reconsider its future strategy so that Scorpio sales can rise again.
