Hansalpur: Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off Maruti Suzuki’s first electric SUV, ‘Maruti e-Vitara,’ during his Gujarat visit on August 26, 2025. This is a significant event, as it is the first battery electric vehicle (BEV) made in India that will be exported to over 100 countries. After the production starts, the car will be officially launched on September 3, 2025.

The vehicle is not only designed for the Indian market but will also be exported to Japan, Europe, and other international markets from Suzuki’s motor plant in Gujarat. This will give a boost to India’s ‘Make in India’ initiative, and the country will emerge as a significant player in the global electric vehicle market.

The Maruti e-Vitara is equipped with premium features. It features LED headlights, daytime running lamps (DRLs), and LED taillamps. Apart from this, 18-inch alloy wheels and an active air vent grille have also been provided, which enhance the aerodynamic efficiency of the vehicle.

Being an electric vehicle, its battery capacity is an important aspect. The Maruti e-Vitara will be available in two battery options: 48.8 kWh and 61.1 kWh. According to the company’s claims, its range can be up to 500 kilometers, although the actual range depends on driving style and traffic conditions.
Safety and Features
In terms of safety, this vehicle offers many advanced features. It includes features like 7 airbags, lane keep assist, and adaptive cruise control. Apart from this, there is also a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Other features include a panoramic sunroof, multi-color ambient lighting, and a 360-degree camera.
Expected Price
The Maruti e-Vitara is expected to be priced between Rs 17-18 lakh (base model) and Rs 25 lakh (top model). These prices will be ex-showroom and will be confirmed only after its launch.
