New Delhi: For Mani Pawar, a 29-year-old woman from Delhi, buying a new Mahindra Thar was like a dream come true. But this celebration of happiness turned into a mistake that no one had expected. Mani Pawar decided to perform a traditional puja before buying her new car, in which a lemon is placed under the wheel of the car and crushed.

Accident during puja

The incident took place on Monday evening when Mani Pawar reached the Mahindra showroom in Nirman Vihar, Delhi, to buy her Thar SUV worth about ₹ 27 lakh. A lemon was placed in front of the wheel of the Thar parked on the first floor of the showroom as part of the puja. According to tradition, Mani had to move the car slowly so that the lemon could be crushed.

But during this time, Mani accidentally pressed the accelerator instead of the brake, due to which the car moved fast and broke the glass wall of the showroom and fell straight from the first floor to the road below.

Life saved, injuries minor

A showroom employee, Vikas, was also present in the car with Mani at that time. Both suffered minor injuries in the accident, but major damage was averted due to the opening of the airbags. People present nearby immediately reached the spot, and they were admitted to the nearby Malik Hospital. After primary treatment, both were discharged from the hospital.

Police statement

After the incident, the police got information about the Medical Legal Case (MLC). DCP (East) Abhishek Dhania said that Mani Pawar and her husband, Pradeep, had bought a Thar, and this accident happened during the delivery of the vehicle.

This incident once again shows how a small mistake can cause a major accident. Fortunately no one lost their life in this, but it definitely teaches that caution and training are very important before handling a new vehicle, especially when it is parked at a high place.
