New Delhi: The Hyundai Creta has long held a strong position in India’s midsize SUV segment, consistently ranking among the top sellers. However, the launch of Tata Sierra and other competitors has intensified the battle for market share. Buyers now have multiple options offering unique features and modern technology, which has raised the bar for established players like the Creta.
Skoda is preparing to unveil the Kushaq facelift in January 2026, aiming to strengthen its foothold in the competitive SUV space. Spy shots reveal a host of upgrades designed to appeal to modern buyers. The most notable addition is a rear seat massage function, marking a first in the midsize SUV segment in India. This new feature is expected to enhance comfort for passengers, particularly in longer journeys.

In addition to the massage function, the Kushaq facelift will feature a panoramic sunroof for higher trims, providing a premium touch to the cabin experience. The digital instrument cluster and infotainment touchscreen have also received refreshed graphics, improving user interface and visual appeal. Enhanced air-conditioning and rear disc brakes for the 1.5 TSI variants are among the other upgrades aimed at boosting overall comfort and performance.
The facelifted Kushaq will introduce a Level 2 ADAS suite and a 360-degree camera, strengthening the SUV’s already strong safety credentials. Skoda’s Kushaq is recognized for its five-star ratings in both Global NCAP and Bharat NCAP crash tests. The Kushaq facelift is expected to retain its existing powertrain lineup. This includes the 115hp 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine and the 150hp 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine. However, the smaller 1.0-litre unit could see a significant upgrade with a new 8-speed automatic gearbox, replacing the current 6-speed torque-converter automatic. The 1.5 TSI engine will continue with its 7-speed dual-clutch automatic, and both engines will remain available with a 6-speed manual transmission, offering buyers multiple choices.
The Kushaq facelift’s new features, particularly the segment-first rear seat massage and advanced safety technologies, position Skoda as a strong challenger to the Hyundai Creta and Tata Sierra.
