Toyota has unveiled its first electric vehicle in India, the Urban Cruiser Ebella. Based on the Maruti e Vitara, the new electric SUV offers a claimed range of over 500 km, two battery options, premium interiors, and advanced safety features including Level-2 ADAS.

New Delhi: Toyota has introduced its first electric car in the Indian market. The Urban Cruiser Ebella, the electric version of the Urban Cruiser, is positioned in the rapidly growing compact electric SUV segment. This car is essentially a rebadged version of Maruti's e Vitara, meaning both vehicles share the same platform, battery pack, and technology. However, Toyota has attempted to distinguish it in terms of design and styling.
Bookings for the Urban Cruiser Ebella have opened with a token amount of ₹25,000. The company has not yet revealed the price, but an official price announcement is expected soon.

The Ebella's overall shape is similar to the e Vitara, but its front profile is distinctive. It features a thick bumper, gloss black grille, LED headlamps, pixel-style DRLs, a faux skid plate, and 18-inch alloy wheels. The side profile is largely similar to the e Vitara, while the rear features a coupe-style design, connected LED taillamps, and an integrated spoiler.
The cabin is in a black and tan theme, featuring a dual-screen setup, a new twin-spoke steering wheel, and vertical AC vents. Rear passengers have ample legroom and headroom. The fixed glass roof and slide and recline function make the cabin even more comfortable.
The Urban Cruiser Ebella features a 10.1-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless connectivity, a JBL sound system, ventilated front seats, a 10-way electric driver's seat, ambient lighting, and multiple drive modes.
In terms of safety, it comes with 7 airbags and Level 2 ADAS, which includes blind-spot alert, a 360-degree camera, electronic stability control, and TPMS.

This EV will come in two battery pack options and will be front-wheel drive with a single electric motor. The company claims that the car can deliver a range of over 500 km on a single charge, or approximately 543 km.
The Urban Cruiser Ebella will compete with cars like the Hyundai Creta Electric, Tata Curvv EV, Mahindra BE 6, MG Windsor EV, and MG ZS EV. Customers will have no shortage of options in this segment.
