Patna: Preparations for the upcoming assembly elections in Bihar have gained momentum. Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar, Election Commissioners Dr. Sukhbir Singh Sandhu, and Dr. Vivek Joshi arrived in Patna late Friday night for a two-day visit. During this period, the Election Commission team will comprehensively review the election preparations in the state. According to officials, the official announcement of the elections could be made any time after this visit.

Meeting at Hotel Taj
The Commission's meeting was held on Saturday at Hotel Taj in Patna. The Election Commission team is first meeting with representatives of political parties. Following this, two sessions will be held with all the state's commissioners, IGs, DIGs, DMs (District Election Officers), and SP/SSP-level officials. The purpose of this meeting is to review administrative arrangements and discuss necessary steps to ensure a fair, peaceful, and transparent election process.

The Commission team will also hold discussions with the state's Chief Secretary, Director General of Police, and other top officials. Issues such as security, logistical support, and deployment of polling staff will be key to this discussion. On Sunday, the Commission will review the measures taken to ensure transparency in the elections.

Training Session in Delhi, 425 Observers Deployed
Earlier on Friday, a training session was held at the India International Institute of Democracy and Election Management (IIIDEM) in New Delhi. 287 IAS, 58 IPS, and 80 other senior officers (IRS, IRAS, ICAS) participated in it. All these officers will be deployed as central observers for the Bihar Assembly elections and by-elections in other states.

Controversy and Political Reaction Over Voter List
This visit comes at a time when the Election Commission recently released the final voter list under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR). This process has evoked sharp reactions from political parties. The NDA has supported the move. BJP leader Vijay Kumar Sinha said, "The Election Commission is welcome in Bihar. All parties should cooperate in this grand festival of democracy."

Meanwhile, the India Block has alleged that this process is an attempt to manipulate the voter list and steal votes. Congress leader Kanhaiya Kumar said, "Many names have been removed without reason during the SIR."
