ECI Refutes Tejashwi's Voter List Omission Claim
Patna: A new controversy has arisen in Bihar politics, whose centerpiece is RJD leader and Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Tejashwi Yadav. This case is about a voter ID card, which has roiled the politics of the state.
The entire case began when Tejashwi Yadav claimed in a press conference that his name was missing from the voter list. During this time he showed an EPIC number, RAB2916120, and said that when he checks this number, there is no record in the system.
Tejashwi said in strong words on this occasion, "If my name is not in the voter list, then how will I contest? It is a murder of democracy." He also accused the Election Commission of acting at the behest of the BJP.
However, when the matter was investigated, the whole matter turned upside down. The district administration and the Election Commission found that the EPIC number RAB2916120 shown by Tejashwi is completely fake. Officials said that this number was never released by the Election Commission, nor is it present in any government database.
In contrast, the Election Commission clarified that Tejashwi Yadav's name is recorded under Serial No. 416 on booth number 204 (Veterinary College, Patna) in the voter list, and his actual EPIC number is RAB0456228. The commission said that Tejashwi used the same number in the 2020 assembly elections as well.
Now the district administration has issued a notice to Tejashwi Yadav and ordered him to submit this fake voter ID card till 5 pm on August 16. It has also warned that making and using fake voter IDs is a serious crime, for which legal action can be taken.
This entire case has created new tension in Bihar politics. On the one hand, while Tejashwi Yadav is accusing the Election Commission of bias, on the other hand, the Election Commission and the administration are accusing him of creating fake voter IDs.
This case is now becoming a major political dispute, and it can have far-reaching consequences. Opposition parties have described it as an attempt by the government to harass the opposition, while the ruling party has accused Tejashwi of breaking the law.
