PM Modi Inaugurates 6,880 Cr Rs Buxar Power Plant, Key Projects in Bihar

PM Modi launched multiple development projects in Bihar, including a thermal power plant, healthcare facilities, and infrastructure upgrades. He also flagged off new trains to boost connectivity and pilgrimage tourism, strengthening key sectors ahead of elections.

Gayaji: In an effort to strengthen the state's energy, healthcare, infrastructure, and communication sectors, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a number of development projects in Bihar on Friday, including the Rs 6,880-crore Buxar thermal power plant.

Speaking to a crowd in the Gayaji district, the prime minister also announced the opening of two new trains: the Buddhist Circuit Train between Vaishali and Koderma and the Amrit Bharat Express between Gayaji and Delhi. The latter is anticipated to significantly boost travel and pilgrimage to the area's major Buddhist sites.

According to officials, the Buxar thermal power plant will be essential to satisfying the growing demand for electricity, guaranteeing energy security, and expanding Bihar's power producing capability.

Bihar Governor Arif Mohammad Khan, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, as well as a number of state and union officials, members of parliament, and MLAs, attended the event.

Bihar's Healthcare Boost

The PM inaugurated the Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Centre in Muzaffarpur, equipped with advanced oncology OPD and IPD wards, surgery theatres, contemporary laboratories, a blood bank, and a 24-bed ICU and HDU.

It is anticipated that the facility will reduce the need for patients in Bihar and the surrounding states to travel to large cities for treatment by offering them access to world-class, reasonably priced cancer care.

Urban Development and the Clean Ganga Mission

The Prime Minister opened a Rs 520-crore sewerage treatment plant (STP) and sewerage network in Munger as part of the Namami Gange project, which will help lower Ganga pollution and enhance sanitary services in the region

Additionally, he established the groundwork for approximately Rs 1,260 crore worth of urban infrastructure projects in several districts, including STPs in Jamui, Jehanabad, Barahiya (Lakhisarai), and Daudnagar (Aurangabad).

He established water supply projects in Aurangabad, Bodhgaya, and Jehanabad under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT 2.0).

Accommodation and Communication

In addition, the Prime Minister took part in a Griha Pravesh ceremony when he gave symbolic keys to housing project recipients. The program supplied dwellings to about 4,260 urban beneficiaries under PMAY-Urban and 12,000 rural beneficiaries under PMAY-Gramin.

PM Modi officially opened the four-lane Bakhtiyarpur-Mokama segment of NH-31, a Rs 1,900 crore project that will increase freight and passenger movement, reduce travel times, and lessen traffic congestion.

Later that day, he will officially open the 1.86-kilometer Aunta-Simaria Bridge across the Ganga River, which will directly link Begusarai and Mokama in the Patna district, greatly enhancing regional connectivity.
