New Delhi: October 2025 is a busy month this year, filled with festivals. Major festivals like Durga Puja, Dussehra, Diwali, and Chhath Puja will be celebrated across the country this month. Banks will be closed for several days due to these festivals. According to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) holiday calendar, banks are scheduled to remain closed for several days in October.

Banks to Remain Closed in October

This month, banks will be closed due to several festivals, including Ayodhya Puja, Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti, Lakshmi Puja, Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti/Kumar Purnima, Karva Chauth, Kati Bihu, Diwali, Naraka Chaturdashi, Govardhan Puja, Balipadmi, Bhai Dooj, Chhath Puja, and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's birth anniversary. Additionally, all banks are closed on the second and fourth Saturdays of every month.

Bank Holidays in Late September and Early October

September 29: Banks will be closed in Tripura, Assam, and West Bengal for Maha Saptami and Durga Puja.

September 30: Banks will be closed in Tripura, Odisha, Assam, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh, West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Bihar for Maha Ashtami or Durga Ashtami.

October 1: Banks will be closed in Tripura, Karnataka, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Sikkim, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Nagaland, West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Meghalaya, and Kerala for Dussehra, Ayudha Puja (Maha Navami/Vijayadashami), and Durga Puja (Dasin).

October 2: Banks will be closed across the country for the national holiday of Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti, as well as for Sri Sri Sankardev Janmotsav, Dussehra, Vijayadashami, and other occasions.

October 3-4: Banks will be closed in Sikkim for Durga Puja.
