New Delhi: Gold prices in India extended their upward momentum for the second consecutive session on Saturday, 28 February, 2026, as buyers poured into the safe-haven asset. The rate for 24-karat gold surged sharply to Rs 16,473 per gram, equivalent to Rs 1,64,730 per 10 grams, registering a one-day gain of Rs 316 per gram.

Silver also rebounded strongly after two stagnant sessions. On the final trading day of February, silver jumped Rs 10,000 per kilogram to trade at Rs 2,95,000 per kg, indicating renewed demand after a brief consolidation.

The brisk rise in precious metal prices reflects heightened global uncertainty. With geopolitical tensions escalating in the Middle East, international gold has climbed above $5,200 an ounce, reinforcing its appeal as a hedge against market volatility.
