Chennai: Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) has temporarily suspended the supply of LPG cylinders to industrial and commercial consumers, citing disruptions in the global supply chain caused by the prevailing geopolitical situation.

In a communication issued by its Indane Divisional Office in Chennai, the company informed customers that the current circumstances have significantly impacted the cost and availability of LPG worldwide. As a result, the company said it is unable to continue supplying LPG to industrial and commercial users for the time being.

Supply Disruption Linked to Global Situation

According to the notice dated March 9, IOCL said the ongoing geopolitical developments have affected global LPG inventories and supply chains, forcing the company to take temporary measures.

“Due to the prevailing geo-political situation, the global supply chain has impacted the costs and inventories of LPG,” the letter stated.

The company added that supply constraints have made it difficult to continue servicing institutional fuel requirements for commercial and industrial customers.

Customers Asked to Explore Alternate Fuel Sources

In view of the current situation, the company has advised industrial and commercial consumers to make necessary arrangements and explore alternative fuel sources to meet their operational requirements.

The notice urged businesses to plan accordingly until the LPG supply situation improves.

IOCL also assured customers that it is closely monitoring developments in the global energy market and will provide updates if there are positive changes regarding the restoration of supply.

The development comes at a time when global energy markets are facing volatility due to geopolitical tensions and supply chain uncertainties, which have affected fuel availability across several sectors.
