New Delhi: Indian equity markets opened Wednesday’s trading session on a strong note, with benchmark indices posting sharp gains despite persistent global uncertainties. Heavy buying in information technology and banking stocks lifted investor sentiment, pushing the Sensex above 74,400 and the Nifty 50 beyond the 23,070 mark in early trade.
The BSE Sensex climbed more than 650 points during early trading, crossing the 74,400 level. Meanwhile, the NSE Nifty 50 moved above 23,070, supported by broad buying interest across key sectors.
The strong opening indicated renewed confidence among domestic investors, although the sustainability of the rally will depend on global market trends, crude oil prices and institutional investment flows.
Information technology shares emerged as a major contributor to the morning rally. The Nifty IT index advanced close to 2% in early trade, making the sector one of the strongest performers.
Banking stocks also traded higher, providing additional support to the benchmark indices. Market participants are closely tracking quarterly earnings and valuations to identify companies with stronger growth prospects.
GIFT Nifty had indicated a firm start for domestic equities before the opening bell. According to the pre-market assessment attributed to Choice Broking Technical Research Vice President Sachin Gupta, the market's direction would depend on global cues, crude oil movements and buying or selling activity by Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) and Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs).
Elevated Brent crude prices and rising US bond yields continue to pose potential challenges for equities. However, domestic liquidity and support for select large-cap stocks have helped investors find opportunities despite external uncertainties.

Market participants are also monitoring second-quarter corporate earnings for signs of improving business performance.
Market experts believe the current environment favours selective stock picking rather than indiscriminate buying. Investors are being encouraged to assess company fundamentals, earnings visibility and valuations before making investment decisions.
Continued institutional support could help cushion market declines, but global developments and upcoming corporate results are likely to remain important factors shaping the near-term trend.
