What began as a small road mishap in Bengaluru spiraled into horror- a couple allegedly chased down a 24-year-old delivery boy and crushed him to death. The CCTV footage that followed revealed a chilling twist no one expected.
The incident took place around 9 pm on Tuesday in Nataraja Layout.
Bengaluru: A shocking case of road rage in South Bengaluru has claimed the life of a 24-year-old food delivery agent, who was allegedly chased and deliberately run over by a couple after a minor collision. The gruesome incident, captured on CCTV, has sent shockwaves across the city, raising questions about growing aggression and intolerance on roads.
According to police, the incident took place around 9 pm on Tuesday in Nataraja Layout, South Bengaluru. The victim, identified as Darshan, was out on a delivery when his scooter reportedly grazed a car, slightly damaging its right rear-view mirror. Despite apologising and driving away, he was pursued by the driver, Manoj Kumar (32), a martial arts trainer from Kerala.

Enraged by the incident, Manoj allegedly took a U-turn and began chasing Darshan’s scooter. “He rammed the scooter from behind with great force. The impact threw Darshan and his pillion rider, Varun, onto the road,” said a senior investigating officer.
Darshan succumbed to his injuries on the spot, while Varun sustained minor injuries and is recovering.
When police examined CCTV footage from the locality, what initially appeared to be a tragic accident turned out to be a deliberate act. The visuals show the car intentionally following the two-wheeler before mowing it down.
In a shocking twist, the footage also revealed that the same car returned to the spot a few minutes later. “The couple, wearing masks, parked nearby and collected parts of their car that had broken off during the collision. Their actions and the footage made it clear that this was not an accident,” said the investigating officer.
The police swiftly traced the vehicle’s registration details and tracked the accused couple to their residence. Both Manoj Kumar and his wife Aarati Sharma (30), a native of Jammu & Kashmir, were arrested within hours.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Lokesh Jagalasar confirmed the arrests, stating, “The accused have confessed to their involvement in the incident. They have been remanded to 14-day judicial custody.”

While Manoj claimed he was alone when the incident occurred and that Aarati arrived later to collect the car parts, the police said they are still verifying his version. The vehicle involved has been seized for forensic examination.
The chilling nature of the crime has sparked widespread outrage among citizens and delivery workers, who staged protests demanding stricter punishment. Police have promised a thorough investigation and said more charges, including murder under Section 302 of the IPC, may be added based on the evidence.
Darshan’s family has demanded justice, saying their son lost his life “for no fault of his own.”
