'Want to Return to India and Face Legal Process'

The Luthra brothers stated that their intention is not to evade justice but to return to India and appear in court. They argued in court, “We want four weeks of protection so that we can return to India and participate in the legal process in the Goa court.”

“The deaths of the victims are tragic, but we do not want to run away. We want to be a part of the legal process.” They argued that it is not appropriate for the State Counsel to oppose bail in this situation.

‘We are not the owners of the bar, only licensees.’

In their defense, the Luthra brothers told the court that they are not the actual owners of the bar. They said, “I was only the licensee; the bar is someone else's property. I couldn't even carry out repairs without the owner's permission.”

Through this argument, they tried to clarify that the responsibility for the fire should not be placed solely on them.

Lookout Circular and Fleeing the Country

After the FIR was registered, the Goa Police requested the Intelligence Bureau to issue a lookout circular against the accused.

The investigation revealed that immediately after the incident, on December 7 at 5:30 AM, the accused had left the country on an IndiGo flight 6E 1073 to Phuket.

This led the police to believe that they were trying to evade the investigation.

Tragic Death of 25 People in the Accident

This devastating fire occurred at a nightclub about 25 kilometers from Panaji, Goa. In this accident 20 employees and 5 tourists (4 of whom were from Delhi) have died. Five injured individuals are currently receiving treatment at Goa Medical College (GMCH).
