New Delhi: Cockroach Janata Party(CJP) has removed its spokesperson, Vijeta Dahiya, effective immediately, following controversial viral videos that surfaced during the party's protest flagging Parliament March and Jantar Mantar in Delhi. The party said the decision followed videos that reportedly showed Dahiya eating a burger during a police crackdown on protesters and triggered widespread criticism on social media .
In a statement, CJP said it "strongly condemns" Dahiya's "deeply insensitive actions," calling his conduct "unacceptable" and inconsistent with the movement's values.
The party said the videos surfaced at a time when peaceful protesters and party members were reportedly subjected to police action during the protest. CJP said Dahiya's actions demonstrated a "total lack of sensitivity" and did not reflect the principles on which the movement was founded. The party relieved Dahiya of his duties as the spokesperson of the movement and removed his official designation from the organisation is part of this disciplinary move. • CJP said the policy was taken to uphold accountability and keep the movement's credibility.

The controversy began after multiple videos circulated online showing Dahiya away from the protest site. One widely shared clip allegedly showed him eating a burger, prompting criticism that he had abandoned protesters during a crucial moment.
The visuals quickly went viral, with several social media users questioning the timing of his break while demonstrators were reportedly dealing with a police crackdown.
Responding to the backlash, Dahiya defended himself, saying he had simply gone to eat because he was hungry. He argued that critics were ignoring the physical and mental toll on protesters.
"Why did I eat a burger? Because I was hungry," Dahiya said in a video, adding that he had not slept for two nights while participating in the protest. He also questioned why activists were being judged for eating during long demonstrations, insisting that his commitment to the movement remained unchanged despite the controversy.
