Punjab: Ambulance falls into gorge in Hoshiarpur; 3 killed, 2 injured

Hoshiarpur: At least three people were killed and two others were injured after an ambulance fell into a deep gorge near the Manguwal barrier on Chintpurni Road on Saturday morning here in Hoshiarpur, reports Dynamite News correspondent.

According to reports, the ambulance was going to DMC Ludhiana and went out of control at Himachal-Punjab border and fell into a deep gorge in Manguwal in Punjab.

The police soon reached the spot and took the bodies in their custody and sent them for post-mortem. At the same time the injured were rushed to the hospital.

Deceased Identified

The deceased have been identified as Sanjeev Kumar Soni (55) Pathiyar, Omkar Chand (84) Maranda and Ramesh Chand (45) resident of Nurpur in Kangra. The seriously injured are Renu Wala and the ambulance driver Bobby who are undergoing treatment at Civil Hospital Hoshiarpur.

Jasvir Singh, a police officer, while talking to media persons said that the ambulance was coming from Himachal Pradesh and fell into a deep gorge near Manguwal barrier on the Chintpurni road in Hoshiarpur.

Jasvir Singh said, "We received information around 3.30-4 am that an ambulance coming from Himachal Pradesh fell into a ditch near Manguwal barrier on the Chintpurni road in Hoshiarpur. Three people died in the incident and two are injured... The injured have been admitted to the hospital."

Another police official said that though the reason of the accident will be known after investigation but prima facie seems that the breaking of the part of the road and the carelessness of the driver may be the reasons of the accident.

Earlier Accident

In the month of July 8 killed and 20 people injured when a bus collided with a car on Dasuha-Hajipur road. All the injured were taken to the hospital on the spot.

There was chaos at that time. When the bus and the car collided fiercely. It was a mini bus. Which belongs to a private company. A crowd of people gathered due to the bus overturning. There was a stampede among the passengers.
