Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra Accused of ₹60 Crore Fraud
New Delhi: Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty and her husband Raj Kundra are once again embroiled in legal trouble. This time, the case involves alleged fraud amounting to approximately ₹60 crore.
The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Mumbai Police is investigating the case, and has now begun questioning the couple's employees.
According to a report, the Mumbai Police EOW has summoned four employees of a company called Best Deal Private Limited. This company belongs to Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra, and it is accused of defrauding businessman Deepak Kothari of ₹60 crore.
Shilpa Shetty questioned for Rs 60 crore scam; What really happened inside the EOW office?
It is reported that one of the four employees has already recorded their statement, while the remaining three will be questioned soon. All these employees held senior positions in the company at the time.
The EOW is trying to ascertain where and how the invested money was used.
Raj Kundra had claimed that the company spent approximately ₹20 crore on office furnishings. Investigating officers are verifying the veracity of this claim. They are also investigating whether the employees' salaries were paid from the company's income or from another source.
The main objective of the investigation is to determine whether the company had genuine business orders to justify such a large investment.
According to the report, the EOW will also soon question the companies and suppliers associated with Raj Kundra's business. If any inconsistencies are found in their statements, Raj Kundra may be summoned for further questioning.
In earlier questioning, Raj Kundra had stated that his company, which was involved in the trading of electronic and household appliances, suffered heavy losses after the 2016 demonetization.

He claimed that due to the financial crisis, the company was unable to return the invested amount. Allegations by Complainant Deepak Kothari
Businessman Deepak Kothari alleged that between 2015 and 2023, Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra persuaded him to invest ₹60 crore in Best Deal TV Pvt Ltd. However, instead of using the money for the company's business, it was allegedly used for personal gain.
The company is now defunct, and a fraud case was registered against the couple in Mumbai in August 2023.
Raj Kundra also stated that a portion of this amount was given to stars like Bipasha Basu and Neha Dhupia for their participation in the company's promotional events.
Lookout Notice issued against Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra in Rs 60 crore fraud case
Currently, the case is under investigation and is being heard in court. Only after the EOW completes its investigation will it become clear whether this ₹60 crore deal was fraudulent or a business failure. Until the court delivers its final verdict, these allegations remain merely alleged.
