New Delhi: The family of Twisha Sharma has welcomed the Madhya Pradesh government’s decision to recommend a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into her death case, calling it an important step toward justice. At the same time, family members alleged that the investigation had been delayed because of the “power and influence” of the accused.
Twisha Sharma, a resident of Noida, died on May 12 after marrying Bhopal resident Samarth Singh in December 2025. Her family has accused her husband and in-laws of mental harassment and dowry-related abuse.

The family thanked the Madhya Pradesh government for recommending the central probe and expressed hope that the truth would now come out through an independent investigation.
Twisha’s cousin Ashish Sharma also alleged that the delay in the investigation reflected the influence enjoyed by the accused. He claimed that certain individuals continued helping the accused even after the incident and demanded accountability for anyone who may have interfered in the investigation process.
Meanwhile, Bhopal Police Commissioner Sanjay Kumar confirmed that police have approached the High Court seeking cancellation of the anticipatory bail granted to Twisha’s mother-in-law, retired judge Giribala Singh.
According to police officials, multiple notices were issued asking Singh to cooperate with the investigation. Authorities stated that after she allegedly failed to respond adequately, a petition seeking cancellation of her bail was filed before the court. Police also said efforts are continuing to arrest the main accused in the case.

The case has attracted significant public attention, with growing demands for a transparent investigation. The state government has formally granted consent for the CBI to take over the probe.
Twisha’s family has repeatedly alleged that the investigation was influenced due to the social and legal standing of the accused. They say the fight for justice is far from over and have vowed to continue pursuing legal action until accountability is fixed.
The development marks a major turning point in the case, which has sparked wider discussions around dowry harassment, influence in investigations and the need for timely legal action in sensitive cases.
