Nida Khan absconding amid forced conversion and harassment allegations
New Delhi: Nida Khan, an accused in a case involving allegations of forced religious conversion and harassment at Tata Consultancy Services’ (TCS) Nashik unit, has been absconding for the past week, according to police sources. Her husband’s inconsistent statements during the investigation have further deepened the mystery surrounding her whereabouts.
The police questioned Nida’s husband on Friday. He initially told investigators that she had left their home on April 14 and was staying with a relative. However, when police visited the said relative’s residence, they found it locked. Both Nida’s and the relative’s mobile phones were also switched off at the time.
Later, the husband reportedly changed his statement, claiming that Nida had been taken to Nashik earlier this week by her maternal aunt, identified as Noori Sheikh. He said he currently has no confirmed information about her location.

Suspension from TCS and Legal Action
Nida Khan was suspended from TCS on April 9. Her family has stated that she is pregnant and has approached the court seeking relief. She has reportedly filed an anticipatory bail application before a local court in Nashik, citing her medical condition as a key ground.
Background of the Case
The controversy began after a female employee at TCS’s Nashik office accused a colleague, Danish Sheikh, of sexually exploiting her in 2022 under the false promise of marriage, despite already being married.
Police records indicate that Nida Khan, who is Danish Sheikh’s sister, allegedly made objectionable remarks about the complainant’s religion and attempted to pressure her into converting. Another accused, Tausif Akhtar, is also alleged to have concealed Danish Sheikh’s marital status from the complainant.

Arrests Made
In connection with the case, police have arrested seven TCS employees, including six men and one woman, who served as the Head of HR.
