Masked men break into Ex-judge Giribala Singh’s residence (Img: Agencies)
Bhopal: A burglary at the Bhopal residence of former district judge Giribala Singh has added a fresh twist to the high-profile Twisha Sharma death case. Three masked men allegedly broke into the house late Saturday night and escaped with valuables, while Singh and her son, advocate Samarth Singh, remain in judicial custody in connection with the ongoing CBI investigation into Twisha’s death.
According to Katara Hills police, the accused gained entry through the first floor of the house while two family members, including a relative, were present inside. The occupants discovered the theft on Sunday morning and immediately informed the police.
During the investigation, police reportedly spotted three suspicious individuals near the area. The suspects allegedly fled after abandoning a bag believed to contain stolen items. Officials said the recovered belongings would be verified after comparing them with the list of missing valuables submitted by the family.
Investigators have collected CCTV footage from the residence as part of the probe. Police said the incident appears to be a case of burglary and, at present, there is no evidence linking it to the CBI investigation into Twisha Sharma’s death.
Although some sources claimed that one suspect had been apprehended, police have not officially confirmed any arrests.
A relative of the Singh family questioned the police version, alleging that while officers reportedly encountered the suspects during routine patrolling near the Katara Hills area, they failed to make significant recoveries despite a brief confrontation.
Former judge Giribala Singh and her son Samarth Singh are currently in judicial custody after being arrested in connection with the suspicious death of Twisha Sharma, who was found dead at her matrimonial home in Bhopal on May 12.
Following demands from Twisha’s family, the case was transferred to the Central Bureau of Investigation. Earlier this month, a special CBI court extended the judicial custody of both accused until June 30 as the investigation continues.
