Kaushambi: A man was held guilty and sentenced to life imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 35,000 by a local court here on Saturday for rape and murder of a seven-year-old girl in Kaushambi district in Uttar Pradesh, prosecution sources said here.
Prosecution sources said that a man filed a report at Kokhraj police station on April 30, 2018 that a man killed his 14-year-old niece by hitting her with a brick. "In this case, the police filed a report against Sita Sharan under the Indian Penal Code and the Pocso Act, and after investigation, presented the charge sheet in the court," they said.
The hearing of the case began in the court of Special Judge POCSO Act. "After hearing the arguments of both the parties and examining the evidence available in the file, the court found the accused Sita Sharan guilty of rape and murder of the minor after which Judge Ashok Kumar Srivastava sentenced the accused to life imprisonment and a fine of Rs 35,000," they said.
Eight people including four minors have been arrested for raping a 13-year-old girl for several months in Gyalshing district of Sikkim. Police has exposed the incident of rape and took action on the basis of a complaint lodged by the Child Welfare Committee on Friday.
The girl's school had informed the Child Welfare Committee about her condition. Police said that the student always looked sick and weak in the class. She told the name of a woman from her area in the counseling session who used to call her regularly to help in household chores.
According to the statement of the girl, the woman allegedly forced her into sexual acts, in which her husband was also involved, police said.
Police also said, interrogation also revealed that two other men were also brought in and the girl was allegedly forced to have sex with them in exchange for money. The victim also named four minors who had allegedly been sexually assaulting her for the past one year. Based on the victim's statement, the police arrested the woman, her husband and two men, and detained four teenagers.
