6-Year-Old Student Dies After Teacher Slaps Him Over Homework (Img: X)
New Delhi: A six-year-old UKG student died in Andhra Pradesh’s Visakhapatnam after allegedly being slapped by his teacher over incomplete homework, police said. The incident at Little Gardens School in the One Town area has triggered outrage, with the child’s family demanding strict action against the teacher.
The deceased student has been identified as Pranay Teja, son of Krishna Prasad and Sai Lakshmi.
According to police, the incident took place on Thursday when the teacher allegedly confronted Pranay for not completing his homework.
The teacher reportedly grabbed the child’s shirt and slapped him. Soon after the incident, the six-year-old collapsed on the spot and was rushed to King George Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.
Police said the entire incident was captured on CCTV footage, which is now being examined as part of the investigation.
Authorities have started a detailed probe into the matter. Police are examining whether the child had any underlying medical condition that could have contributed to his death.
The child’s body has been sent for post-mortem examination, and officials said the exact cause of death will be confirmed after receiving the report.
Pranay’s family has rejected any possibility of a pre-existing health problem and demanded action against the teacher and school authorities.
The child’s father, Krishna Prasad, said his son was healthy and had no medical issues. He claimed that Pranay was reluctant to go to school on Thursday but went after being convinced.
The father said he later reviewed the CCTV footage and alleged that the teacher scolded and hit his son before he collapsed. “He was completely normal on Wednesday evening and Thursday morning. He had no illness,” Krishna said while demanding strict action against those responsible.
