A Wagon-R car lost control and fell onto the road below in the Hill Petrol Bunk area of Ooty in the Nilgiris district of Tamil Nadu. The car lost control due to overheating of the clutch and brake drums on the hilly road. The driver narrowly escaped the accident when his airbags deployed.
Airbag Prevents Fatality in Hill Road Mishap
Ooty: A serious road accident occurred on Monday in the Hill Petrol Bunk area of Ooty, in the Nilgiris district of Tamil Nadu. The area is a hilly area with steep and winding roads.
According to eyewitnesses, a Wagon-R car, carrying only the driver, suddenly lost control while descending a hilly road.
It is reported that due to prolonged driving in high gear (third/top gear), the clutch and brake drums overheated, causing the brakes to malfunction, and the car plunged straight down onto the road below.
Delhi Road Accident: Two died and two injured in car accident
The car was found severely damaged, but the driver's life was saved by the airbags deploying during the accident. According to locals, the condition of the car could have been a major accident.
Petrol bunk employees and passersby present there immediately responded and called the 108 ambulance.
An ambulance arrived at the scene in about 10 minutes, and the injured driver was admitted to the ICU of a government hospital. His condition is currently stable.
