Gurugram: A 17-year-old Class 12 student allegedly died by suicide at her residence in Gurugram’s Khoh village on Wednesday, prompting a police investigation into allegations of emotional harassment linked to a suspected relationship.

According to officials, the teenager was found hanging in her room when family members returned home in the afternoon. She reportedly left behind a two-page suicide note in which she spoke about emotional distress, repeated questioning and humiliation.

Family Found Student Hanging at Home

Police said the incident came to light after the girl’s father returned home around 1:30 pm for lunch and discovered her hanging inside her room. At the time of the incident, no other family member was present in the house.

The family immediately informed the police, following which a team reached the spot and began an investigation. The body was later sent for postmortem examination.

The victim’s family originally belongs to Bihar’s Rohtas district and has been living in Gurgaon for work and education. Her father runs a ration shop, while her mother teaches at a private school. She is survived by her parents and elder brother.

Suicide Note Mentions Emotional Distress

Investigators recovered a suicide note from the student’s belongings. In the note, she reportedly mentioned a young man she had known for nearly a year and described feeling emotionally hurt and misunderstood.

The note allegedly contained repeated apologies and references to constant questioning and emotional pressure. She also reportedly described an incident at her tuition centre where she felt insulted and harassed by a friend.

One line in the note referred to a birthday-related incident, stating that the person involved “knew what happened” that made her feel worse emotionally.

Police Examining Chats and Digital Evidence

Police officials said they are investigating all angles in the case. The boy mentioned in the note has been contacted and his conversations and chats linked to the victim are being examined.

The girl’s father has accused the youth of harassing his daughter. Officials said statements from family members and others connected to the case are being recorded.
