New Delhi: The makers of Awarapan 2 have officially announced its release date, confirming that the film will hit theatres on August 14, 2026. The sequel to the 2007 film Awarapan is expected to arrive during the Independence Day weekend, a period often reserved for major releases.
The film stars Emraan Hashmi in the lead role, with Disha Patani joining the cast in a prominent part.

Unlike the original film, which was directed by Mohit Suri, the sequel is being helmed by Nitin Kakkar. The screenplay has been written by Bilal Siddiqi.

The announcement was accompanied by brief visual teasers that hinted at the film’s tone and narrative. Symbolic elements, including white pigeons—an important motif from the original film were reintroduced, linking the sequel to its predecessor.

Awarapan 2 is set to face competition at the box office from Lahore 1947, starring Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta. The film is reportedly scheduled for release around the same period.
