New Delhi: Protests are ongoing in several parts of the country over actor Manoj Bajpayee's upcoming film, "Ghuskhor Pandat." Some people have objected to the use of the word "Pandat" in the film's title, calling it an insult to the Brahmin community. Amid the growing controversy, filmmaker Neeraj Pandey and actor Manoj Bajpayee have jointly issued a clarification.

Manoj Bajpayee said, "Respect for sentiments."

Manoj Bajpayee issued a statement on social media, saying that he fully respects people's sentiments and concerns. He wrote that the purpose of any art is not to hurt any community. According to him, the story is based on a wronged individual and his journey of self-realization, and not a commentary on any caste or religion. He also stated that in light of public sentiment, the makers have decided to remove the film's promotional material.

Producer Neeraj Pandey clarified that the film is a completely fictional police drama and the word "Pandat" is used only as a character's colloquial name. The story does not represent any caste, religion, or community. He stated that each of his films is made with responsibility and respect, and that the film's sole purpose is to entertain audiences.

Pandey also acknowledged that the title may have offended some people, so it has been decided to remove all promotional material for the time being so that the film can be understood in its full story context.

FMC Issues Notice

The Film Producers Association (FMC) has also issued a notice to the makers. According to the association, the necessary permission was not obtained for using the film's title. The notice stated that using the title without official approval is a violation of rules and could result in disciplinary action.

Directed by Ritesh Shah, the film is produced by Neeraj Pandey. Manoj Bajpayee plays a corrupt policeman named Ajay Dixit. He will also star alongside Nusrat Bharucha, Kiku Sharda, Divya Dutta, Saqib Saleem, Shraddha Das, and Akshay Oberoi in pivotal roles.
