New Delhi: Actor Manoj Bajpayee's upcoming film, "Ghuskhor Pandit," has been embroiled in controversy even before its release. The Brahmin community has strongly opposed the title of the film, which is slated for release on Netflix. A petition has been filed in the Delhi High Court against the film, calling it derogatory to a particular community. Protests have also erupted in several locations.

Brahmin community takes to streets

Protests against the film are no longer confined to the legal realm. Members of the Brahmin community have taken to the streets, demanding an FIR against the film's makers. The protesters say the film's title tarnishes the image of the community and should be changed immediately.

What the Petition Says

The petition filed in the Delhi High Court was filed by lawyer Vineet Jindal, who describes himself as a public-spirited citizen. The petition alleges that the film's title and promotional material deliberately associate the word "Pandit" with corruption and bribery, thereby undermining the social prestige and dignity of the Brahmin community.

Central Government has been made a party

The petitioner has named the Central Government as the primary party in the case. The petition states that it is the government's responsibility to regulate digital platforms and OTT content. It is essential to prevent content that could harm social harmony or target any religious community.

Fear of Disruption of Public Order

The petition also claims that the film's release could lead to situations such as mass defamation and hate speech. This poses a risk of disrupting communal harmony and public order. Based on this, it seeks a ban on the film's release on Netflix.

Allegations of Violation of Constitutional Articles

The petitioner states that the film's title violates Articles 14, 21, and 25 of the Indian Constitution. They argue that in the name of creative liberty, the display of objectionable content against any religious or social group cannot be permitted.

Response from the makers is awaited

At present, there has been no official response from the film's makers or actor Manoj Bajpayee on this controversy. All eyes are now on the Delhi High Court's stance and the upcoming decision.
