Ranveer Singh to star in zombie thriller Pralay.
Mumbai: Ranveer Singh is currently experiencing one of the strongest phases of his film career. His recent release Dhurandhar has delivered an exceptional box office performance despite limited promotional activity. The film is steadily moving towards the ₹400 crore milestone within just ten days of release, reinforcing the actor’s ability to draw audiences across demographics. This success has placed Ranveer at the center of multiple ambitious projects lined up for the coming years.
Building on this momentum, Ranveer Singh is set to headline a post apocalyptic zombie thriller titled Pralay. The film will mark his first foray into zombie cinema, a genre rarely explored at scale in mainstream Hindi films. Pralay is expected to examine themes of survival, fear, and moral collapse, using zombies as a symbolic reflection of a society pushed to its limits.
Pralay will be directed by Jai Mehta, son of acclaimed filmmaker Hansal Mehta. While this will be Jai Mehta’s first feature film as a solo director, he is no stranger to large narratives, having previously co directed the highly regarded series Scam 1992 The Harshad Mehta Story. The film is expected to blend intense storytelling with layered character arcs, offering a grounded yet ambitious approach to the genre.
The project is currently in its pre production phase, with filming expected to begin between July and August 2026. Before committing to Pralay, Ranveer Singh will complete work on Farhan Akhtar’s Don 3, which is scheduled to go on floors in early 2026. Once Don 3 wraps up, the actor will shift his full attention to Pralay. The final production schedule for the zombie thriller is expected to be finalized by January.

The extended preparation period will allow the makers to focus heavily on world building. Pralay is described as a film that demands detailed planning due to its complex visual requirements and narrative scope. The team intends to craft a dystopian setting that feels immersive and authentic, blending emotional storytelling with large scale visuals.
One of the most striking elements of Pralay will be its setting. The film plans to present Mumbai in a devastated and nearly unrecognizable form. The makers aim to transform familiar locations into abandoned and decaying landscapes, creating a haunting backdrop for the story. Visual inspiration is reportedly drawn from global dystopian franchises, while maintaining a distinctly Indian emotional core.
To achieve this vision, the production will rely on a mix of practical sets and advanced digital techniques. Several parts of Mumbai will be digitally aged to reflect long term decay and abandonment. Artificial intelligence based visual extensions are expected to play a key role in expanding the scale of destruction without losing realism. Filming is expected to begin in Mumbai before moving to additional locations.
In addition to Pralay, Ranveer Singh also has Dhurandhar 2 Revenge scheduled for a theatrical release on March 19, 2026. The sequel is set to face box office competition from Yash’s Toxic A Fairy Tale for Grown Ups. With a zombie thriller, a major action franchise, and a successful sequel on the horizon, Ranveer appears ready to explore one of the most genre diverse chapters of his career.
Pralay represents a bold step for both Ranveer Singh and Hindi cinema. By stepping into a post apocalyptic zombie narrative, the actor continues to challenge conventional boundaries while expanding his on screen range. If executed as planned, the film could open new creative avenues for genre storytelling in India.
