New Delhi: Hollywood star Robert Pattinson has explained why he was absent from Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s high-profile wedding celebrations, even as his fiancée, actress and singer Suki Waterhouse, attended the star-studded event.
The couple exchanged vows on July 3 in a private ceremony attended by close friends, family members and several well-known celebrities. While Waterhouse was among the guests, Pattinson’s absence quickly became a talking point among fans.
Speaking during the London premiere of The Odyssey, Pattinson revealed that work commitments prevented him from joining the celebrations. The actor said he was busy filming scenes for The Batman 2.
"I was working. I was shooting Batman. I was shooting Batman this morning," Pattinson said during an interview on the red carpet.
His comments confirmed that production for the much-awaited superhero sequel is currently underway, leaving little room in his schedule for personal events.
Although he missed the wedding, Pattinson kept the mood light by joking about reports that guests received exclusive gifts during the celebrations.
Reacting to the reports, he quipped, "They were giving away free stuff? What did I miss?"
His playful response drew attention online, especially after reports suggested that guests left with personalised gift boxes carrying the couple's initials.
According to media reports, attendees were presented with gift boxes marked with the initials "TT" after the rehearsal dinner. The boxes reportedly included diamond-encrusted champagne flutes as commemorative keepsakes.
Since Waterhouse attended the event, Pattinson jokingly suggested that he had indirectly benefited from the gifts anyway.
Pattinson is currently reprising his role as Bruce Wayne in The Batman 2, directed by Matt Reeves. The sequel follows the success of the 2022 film, which introduced a younger version of Gotham City's iconic vigilante.
The upcoming film is scheduled for release in October 2027 and is expected to feature several new cast members alongside Pattinson, adding to anticipation surrounding one of Hollywood's most awaited superhero sequels.
