New Delhi: Flight operations at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in Nepal's capital, Kathmandu, were suddenly halted on Saturday evening. According to airport officials, a technical fault in the runway's airfield lighting system forced a temporary halt to all flights. The problem, which occurred at 5:30 p.m. local time, caused delays to incoming and outgoing flights.

Five Flights Currently On Hold

"At least five flights are currently on hold due to a problem with the runway lighting system. All domestic and international flights are being affected," airport spokesperson Renji Sherpa said. He added that technical teams are working to resolve the issue immediately and flights will resume as soon as it is rectified.

IndiGo, Air India, SpiceJet, and Akasa Air reported that the glitch in the Air Traffic Control (ATC) system caused flight delays and inconvenience to passengers. Delhi Airport operator DIAL also confirmed that the technical issue affected flight punctuality.
