New Delhi: Air India on Wednesday announced a major rationalisation of its international flight network, temporarily suspending several overseas routes and reducing frequencies on many others between June and August.
The airline said the move was necessary to maintain operational stability amid continuing airspace restrictions and rising aviation fuel costs.
According to the carrier, flight durations on certain routes have increased because of restricted air corridors in multiple regions, significantly raising operational expenses.

Air India stated that higher aviation turbine fuel prices, combined with longer flying times, have put additional pressure on its international operations.
The airline said the temporary adjustments are aimed at improving schedule reliability and reducing last-minute disruptions for passengers during the busy travel season.
Despite the reductions, Air India said it will continue operating nearly 1,200 international flights every month. Passengers affected by cancellations or revised schedules will be informed in advance and offered rescheduling options or refunds.
