New Delhi: If the war between Israel and China does not stop soon, not only will the mutual trade of Iran and Israel suffer, but China's billions of dollars of investment may also be in danger. This is why China is engaged in helping Iran in every possible way, reports Dynamite News correspondent.
How much can the loss be?
According to Gatestone Institute expert Gordon Chang, China imports about 90% of Iran's total oil exports. Also, China has also provided weapons and military technology to Iran, Hamas, Hezbollah, and Houthi rebels. If there is a change in power in Iran or it starts trading in US dollars, then China may lose $20 to $30 billion every year.
Trade figures between Iran and China
According to the Iranian Customs Department, the value of non-oil trade between Iran and China was $4.63 billion from March to May this year. China bought goods worth $2.425 billion from Iran during this period and sold goods worth $2.206 billion to Iran.
Why Akshay Kumar’s ‘Welcome to the Jungle’ shooting paused; Reason revealed
In the entire previous Iranian year (March 2024–March 2025), non-oil trade between the two countries was worth $34.1 billion. China bought Iranian products worth $14.8 billion and exported goods worth $19.3 billion to Iran. This clearly shows that China is Iran's largest trading partner.
Why is China worried?
There are many reasons behind China's concern. The first reason is its close economic relations with Iran. China is the largest buyer of Iranian crude oil. Iran's share in its total crude oil imports is about 15%, and in the future China wants to double it so that it can get oil at a lower price.
In addition, China wants to strengthen its influence in the Middle East, in which Iran is an important link. Keeping this goal in mind, China has signed a 25-year cooperation agreement with Iran, in which an investment of $400 billion has been promised. This includes oil and gas, infrastructure, and defense sectors. If China does not support Iran, it will be a blow to both its economy and strategic plans.
