New Delhi: Donald Trump has made a strong statement about reopening the crucial Strait of Hormuz amid rising tensions with Iran. He said the waterway will soon become “open, safe and free,” warning that it will happen “one way or another.”
Trump said many countries affected by the disruption in shipping through the strait are expected to support the United States. He specifically mentioned countries like China, France, Japan, South Korea, and the United Kingdom. According to him, these nations may send their warships to help protect ships passing through the strategic route.
Trump shared his warning in a post on the social media platform Truth Social. In the post, he claimed that countries affected by Iran’s actions in the Strait of Hormuz are ready to work with the US to keep the sea route open and secure.
The US president also claimed that American actions had destroyed “100% of Iran’s military capability.” However, he warned that Iran could still try to disrupt shipping using drones, sea mines, or short-range missiles near the waterway.
Trump said the US will continue heavy attacks along Iran’s coastline if necessary. He also warned that Iranian boats and ships could be targeted to ensure the safety of international shipping through the strait.
Meanwhile, Iran has made it clear that it is ready to continue the conflict. Abdul Majid Hakeem Ilahi said in an interview that Iran is prepared to fight the war until the end. He added that the conflict could even last several years if needed.
The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most important shipping routes for oil and gas. A large portion of global energy supplies passes through this narrow waterway, making any conflict there a major concern for the global economy and energy markets.
