Tehran: Amid intensifying hostilities in West Asia, Iran’s powerful military wing, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), has issued a stark warning against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, saying he would remain a target “if still alive”.

In a statement released during the latest phase of the ongoing military confrontation with Israel, the IRGC referred to Netanyahu as a “criminal Zionist Prime Minister” and said Iranian forces would continue to pursue and eliminate him if he remained alive.

The threat comes as tensions between Iran and Israel escalate further, with both sides exchanging military strikes across the region.

Iran Launches Fresh Missile Attacks

The statement accompanied the announcement of the 52nd wave of “Operation True Promise 4”, an Iranian military campaign targeting Israeli and US-linked sites.

According to the IRGC, Iranian forces fired heavy missiles toward industrial zones in Tel Aviv, claiming the strikes caused casualties and triggered emergency sirens across the city. Iranian officials said ambulance teams were deployed to multiple locations following the attacks.

The IRGC also claimed responsibility for targeting facilities linked to US forces in the region. Among the reported targets were the Al-Harir Air Base in Iraq, as well as Ali Al Salem Air Base and Camp Arifjan. Iranian forces reportedly used a combination of missiles and drones in the strikes.

Rumours Of Netanyahu’s Death Go Viral

The Iranian statement also fuelled speculation about Netanyahu’s whereabouts, suggesting that his fate remained unclear and claiming he might have been killed or fled Israel with his family.

However, Netanyahu’s office strongly rejected the rumours circulating online. Responding to questions from the Anadolu Agency, the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office dismissed the claims as false. “These are fake news; the Prime Minister is fine,” the office said.

Deepfake Claims Add To Confusion

Speculation about Netanyahu’s possible assassination spread rapidly on social media after a video shared on his account on X showed what some users claimed was an unusual extra finger on his hand.

The clip led to allegations that the footage might have been created using artificial intelligence or manipulated through deepfake technology.

The video, posted on March 13, featured Netanyahu declaring that Israel was “crushing Iran and Hezbollah” as the conflict continued to escalate across the region.
