New Delhi: The Indian and Chinese armies have taken a major step towards de-escalating tensions in Ladakh.
The 23rd Corps Commander-level talks were held in Moldo-Chushul, where both sides held in-depth discussions on maintaining peace and tranquility along the border.
According to a statement from the Chinese Ministry of Defense, the meeting took place on October 25, 2025, at the Moldo-Chushul border meeting point on the Indian side. Senior military commanders from both countries held detailed discussions on tension management and maintaining stability along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the western sector.

The statement stated that the two sides held active and in-depth dialogue on the management of the western section of the China-India border. They also exchanged views on ways to de-escalate tensions in sensitive areas.
This meeting was held in accordance with the important agreement reached between the leaders of the two countries. Both delegations agreed to continue dialogue through military and diplomatic channels. Additionally, the commitment to maintaining peace and tranquility in the border areas was reiterated.

A statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs said, “The 23rd India-China Corps Commander-level meeting was held on 25 October 2025 at the Chushul-Moldo border crossing point. This was the first meeting of the General-level mechanism in the Western Sector since the 24th round of Special Representative talks held on 19 August 2025. The talks were held in a friendly and cordial atmosphere.”
The Ministry said, “Both sides took note of the progress made since the 22nd round of Corps Commander-level meeting held in October 2024 and shared the view that peace and tranquility have been maintained in the India-China border areas. Both sides agreed to continue utilizing existing mechanisms to resolve any ground issues along the border to maintain stability.”

The talks are part of efforts to de-escalate tensions following the 2020 Galwan Valley clash, which resulted in the deaths of soldiers on both sides and plunged bilateral relations to a historic low. Since then, India and China have been holding frequent high-level military talks. This is the latest step to de-escalate tensions in eastern Ladakh.
