Washington: The fragile calm between the United States and Iran has been shattered after a fresh exchange of attacks, with US President Donald Trump warning Tehran of a strong military response following strikes on American bases in Jordan.

Trump said the US would respond to Iran’s attack, sending a clear warning that the conflict could once again move from economic pressure and sanctions to direct military confrontation.

Trump Warns Iran Of Tough Response

Speaking to Fox NewMedia, Trump said the US would take action against Iran after Iranian forces launched missiles at American military positions in Jordan.

“We’re going to hit them hard,” Trump was quoted as saying, adding that “there will be a response.”

The warning comes after Iran retaliated against US strikes on Iranian military facilities on Larak Island in the Strait of Hormuz.

US Says Missile Attack Was Contained

According to reports, Trump claimed that American air defence systems intercepted almost all Iranian missiles fired toward US bases.

He said only one missile was not intercepted, but it was assessed as posing no major threat to military or civilian targets.

Authorities in Jordan and the UAE also said Iranian weapons were either intercepted or failed to cause significant damage.

How The Latest US-Iran Clash Started

The escalation began after US forces carried out strikes on Iran’s Larak Island, targeting launchers linked to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

The US military said the operation was a “limited and precise” strike aimed at preventing an immediate threat in the strategically important Strait of Hormuz.

Iranian officials claimed casualties in the attack and warned that any further strikes would lead to a strong response.

Strait Of Hormuz At The Centre Of Conflict

The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s most important energy routes, with a major share of global oil shipments passing through the region.

Any prolonged military confrontation in the area could impact global oil markets and increase pressure on countries dependent on energy imports.

Trump’s Sanctions Strategy Against Tehran

Along with military warnings, Trump said US sanctions against Iran were creating pressure on its economy.

Washington has increased restrictions on Iranian oil exports and businesses linked to Tehran, hoping economic pressure will force Iran back to negotiations.

However, Iran has maintained that it wants a diplomatic solution but will respond to any military action.

Middle East Crisis Deepens

The latest confrontation comes after months of rising tensions between Washington and Tehran.

While both sides have indicated interest in negotiations, repeated military exchanges have increased fears of a wider regional conflict involving Gulf nations and US allies.

The coming days could determine whether the situation moves toward diplomacy or another major military escalation.
