Washington: Iran has warned the United States not to take any new military action, as it would respond decisively if the American forces carried out fresh attacks that President Donald Trump has recently threatened.
Israel has not yet made any statement on the issue, with the residents of other nations in the Middle East continuing to watch the developments closely and keep their eyes peeled for any possible twists and turns.
Over the weekend, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi had separate phone talks with senior officials of Turkey, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, with Araqchi repeatedly telling his counterparts that any new military action by the United States would be responded to decisively.
Araqchi spoke with Pakistan's Army Chief, Field Marshal Asim Munir, and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan. Araqchi's statement posted on his Telegram account said the leaders discussed the potential spillover of what Iran has called "destabilising actions" by the United States, as well as the likelihood of increasing insecurity across the region if tensions are allowed to rise.
The calls were made only hours after the Kuwaiti army confirmed that it had destroyed hostile drones fired by Iran, which it said were targeting various facilities in Kuwait.
Iran says it will defend itself against any attack on its territory or its interests in the city, and will respond to what it considers aggression.
In the country’s critical stance, it thinks the outcome is a matter of survival.
As diplomatic talks continue in the background and the inevitable day approaches when the crisis can either move to dialogue or back to the drawing board if the talks fail, its key diplomatic leaders continue trying to avert an even broader confrontation.
